P1: Is that Heather with the sign? “Read a free Star while you stay in your car.” P2: Kianna shows nice move putting her elbow on Tevin’s car. P3: Even better are her eyes. Tevin’s line sets her up for a spike. Plot thickens.
Sharp kid, it only took Tevin two panels to realize that Kianna is also at her second car wash in two hours, are the meant to be this story arc’s teen love story? Will Tevin dazzle on the gridiron and his intellectual brilliance ultimately earn him a Rhodes Scholarship? Will Kianna’s athletic ability enable her to the first olympian to earn gold medals in both Volleyball and Gymnastics at the 2024 games?
In this latest edition of Romeo and Juliet staged by the Milford Shakespeare Society, Kianna endeavors to make the Mudlark football team as a bullet fast wide receiver while Tevin designs, sews and wears the cheerleader outfits for the CK Memorial bonfire. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
A star for the colorist’s consistency with Tevin’s shirt remaining red through two days of story arc so far, must have gotten an extra-large shipment at the end of the last story and using it until it runs out in this one, anybody talked to Vito about the over/under for days before Tevin’s shirt begins to change color from panel to panel?
The volleyball team lost its star player when six-foot tall Becca Ramirez graduated last spring. To compensate for their loss of height at the net, the volleyball team has recruited a gymnast whom they can toss up in the air to spike the ball.
The only time I can remember when gymnastics was mentioned in the strip was when the cheerleading team recruited a male gymnast (Tip) for their acrobatic maneuvers, and then Gil recruited him for the football team as the guy to vault over the line and score a touchdown against a goal-line stand. Or am I imagining that last part?
Well this at least explains why two Milford High sports groups are having a carwash on the same day. The Flipstars are not a school team, just some gymnastics center apparently, that one of more Mudlarks are a part of. The gymnastics angle will just disappear I’m sure within a few weeks. And speaking of disappearing, disappearances figure into today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
Our first color continuity problem of the season. Tevin says he has a silver car, but it’s blue. Although it’s possible we find out he’s colorblind at some point (just like whoever colors these comics).
Wow, in Panel #1 Kianna towers above the roof of the SUV, then in Panel #2 she is over a foot shorter, then in Panel #3 she is again tall enough to look the new kid right in the eye

So this isn’t a Milford team? Sounds like a gymnastics team representing the whole conference.

What do Gil or Mimi have to do with a club team like the Filpstars??

P1, So, I guess all these car washes are taking the place of Milford Lake this year.
P2, Tevin must have a whole slew of brothers and sisters if his parents need 2 of those things.
P3, Only in high school, Tevin, enjoy that long tall gymnast while you can.

In addition to Milford, Tevin actually plays for “Bishop Sycamore HS” in Ohio and is older than he looks.

Pick one and only one!
options for Ms. K being at both car washes:
a) it’s proof she has a split personality
b) she has a Sicilian Twin
c) she’s so poor, she has to work two jobs
