When we moved in here, my neighbor in a friendly voice informed me that we mow each other’s lawns, since it is just as easy to mow the whole thing when you mow.
He also told me I would get to “ hate my tree” in the front yard because it drops stuff all year long.
So now, I have to keep track of who mows when so I don’t slack off on my neighbor’s expectations? It was a relief when he moved recently, though he was nice.
When we were selling our house, I prayed that prospective buyers wouldn’t come when our neighbors were having a pool party in which their “music” was blasting so loudly that people several blocks away would hear it. Either we lucked out, or the buyers were party animals themselves, because we sold it within a month for full price.

That’s the nice part about a rural area. Nobody “just happens by”. If they’re there, there’s a reason.

They’re all looking to see what kind of tools the new guy has, so they can borrow them.

I sometimes see houses with signs that reads, “For Sale by Owner.”
Just once, I’d like to see a sign that says, “For Sale by Neighbor.”

It’s called the who do you think will buy it syndrome. Everyone is curious/worried about the next possible resident.
