So the better option is to leave the vegetable on life support forever, which would cost trillions more money, not to mention collateral lives?

That plug should have been pulled years ago!

(Assuming this comic is an analogy for Afghanistan. It’s kind of hard to be certain.)

Kind of a harsh analogy but I may actually be starting to comprehend Rall’s humor. A little bit like South Park humor.

    124,000 evacuated, Ted.

After The Best Negotiator In Human History arranged for the release of 6,000 terrorists and signed a treaty with them, and pulled out all but 2,500 troops.

    And sabotaged visa procedures.

    .

But I guess I’m just bellyaching.

You should see the alternate universe version of this comic, where we stayed in Afghanistan. It’s exactly the same as this one. Endless alternate universes, with Biden taking different actions every time. Ted drew the same comic in each and every one.

If only Jill Stein had been president, NONE of this would have happened. Isn’t that right, Ted?

Bad as this chaos was.. it’s not nearly as bad as the 20 odd years we did not see on cable news

Let’s be honest. There was never going to be a pretty way out of Afghanistan. Breaking up is hard to do.

So Theodore, are you now advocating that we should have stayed in Afghanistan? No doubt it would provide you with lots of snarky toons like that hilarious one you did on Pat Tillman.

Yeah; he inherited the first twenty years’ worth a couple trillion or so dollars (about the same as Mitch’s tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations). All Joe’s fault, of course. More American Exceptionalism.

No, Rall is faulting the Biden administration for not being perfect in all their decisions and plans. They were not as perspicacious as he is.

    Aka, hindsight is 20:20.

Puppet Biden has turned his back on American Citizens who are still in Afghanistan. Puppet Biden has failed his position as President of the United States.

I’ve always enjoyed Ted’s comics, the one’s about his mother’s progressive dementia I found informative, and his support of progressive policies…But why this sudden and consistent attack on Joe Biden?

In February 2020 tRump surrendered Afghanistan to the Taliban forcing the Afghan government to release over 5,000 Taliban and ISIS fighters and their leaders.

    No one left.

As tRump’s surrender date of May 1st approached,

    No one left.

Summer came and some Americans actually sent their kids, pre-school through high school to Afghanistan on a student exchange.

    No one left.

President Biden extended the exit date to August 31st and abandoned the military airport.

    No one left.

The Taliban took territories and cities across Afghanistan.

    No one left.

    As the Taliban approached Kabul,

    No one left.

When the Taliban took Kabul in 11 days and the Afghan government fled, there was a mad rush to the Kabul airport causing chaos. Biden got control of that chaos in 48 hours. When no one thought we could get everyone out, Biden gave the order, our military went to work, and all but under 100 Americans who wanted to leave were flown out, along with some 160,000 Afghans that had supported us by August 31st. Two ISIS targets have been ‘hunted down’ and killed for killing our 13 brave soldiers. More to come. Biden did it right.

Sending troops back in would have cost far more lives, both American and Afghan. I feel for Afghan people, especially those that want equality and freedom not to have their homes invaded by thugs that violently murder them, because they want freedom from an oppressive, violent interpretation of Islamic Law. Though the Republicans want to do just that. Surprising after just last year and until the withdrawal the Republicans had been bragging about their historic peace deal with the Taliban. Oh, right, they realized the cash flow from all the military and government contracts won’t be flowing to their election coffers as regularly, unless they can start another war, and soon.

I appreciate any Cartoonist that speaks truth, regardless their Bent. I doubt Ted and I agree on much, but we do agree that Uncle Joe and his band of Merry Ivy Leaguers are way out of their Depth.

I think the withdrawal was intentionally “bungled”, to set the scene for remaining/returning. Whether Biden was cued in is unknown, but probably not. I still don’t know what to think of Biden carrying through. It seems out of character for him. But I’ll take it.
