Spud’s Mom: “Believe me, Mr. Principal, sir, I raised my boy to be a good boy. This is all the fault of that Wallace boy, and his overly-permissive parents. They’ll all burn in hell because of their ungodly ways, I’m sure. But, in the meantime, what kind of travel permits are necessary for sending children to Siberia? Surface mail, I don’t want him coming back right away if he fails customs inspection right off a plane.”
He goes to the Tundra not having been a candle but as a Conflagration of Epic Proportions. His memory will live on forever. All Hail Spud. All Hail Spud……….
I don’t remember the situation – but my oldest step daughter was explicitly told not to do something, or she would be punished – grounded I’m pretty sure as she was a teenager at the time. So, of course she went and did it. Probably a party with drinking and no supervision or some other teen movie plot sort of thing. I remember her car getting damaged in the process. Anyway – we get her home and her mom is on full volume ranting about this at her for a solid hour or more. Eventually, I get a moment alone with her after, and ask, “really, was it worth all that?” Her answer, “Yep, every minute.”
an opportunity like that does not come along that often my friend. glad Spud got to be Spud and experience stardom even if only for a few mins over the school pa system
In a perfect world Will Henry would be recognized for his wit, humor, insight, compassion, work ethic, creativity, imagination, kind heart and good looks. He’d be paid handsomely in coin of the realm. He’d give all of his friends free trips to Snug Harbor Theme park where everyone makes you feel good about yourself and Spud free styles from the hidden speakers. Till then I’m happy to be living in a better world where Wallace and his friends and neighbors live Harbor GoGoBoots deep in love of adventure. The best trip in and for generations.
… I thought he was exagerating. HOpefully the principal talks her down from it (and given this strip was months ago he clearly does), but still kinda puts a lot of Spud in perspective.

I think this it’s the first time I’ve ever seen Wallace anxious.

Wallace’s parents will wait until they’re off school grounds before they low-five him.

I don’t think Spud’s parents have been revealed on the comic yet, have they? I don’t recall!

Wow. Spud’s not joking about his mother, then.

I call BS on his mom. From what we know, she’s way too overprotective and neurotic to send him anywhere else.
