Uh-oh [no Baby intended]. Dill’s in trouble now, or rather in the near future when short-fuse Alice finds out nobody else in world except Dill has ever heard of “Queen Rattlebasket the Forceful”! Dill has just a few days to contemplate his Fate….
Well, “Keeping Up Appearances” featured an opportunity for Hyacinth to accompany her hubby to a fancy dress affair with some bigshot, and it turned out that Queen Boadicea was the most sought-after costume to be rented. So if need be Alice can explain it’s pronounced “Bodega,” and the Queen is a forceful shopper.

Yep, Dill had Alice in mind for his queen. After all, he intends to marry her in the future.

Judge a great idea on its merits, Alice, regardless of the source.

Dill didn’t make it up. His brothers, however, MAY have been involved.

So what if he made it up? You’d make a cute pair trick or treating together.

I called it. I predicted a queen or a dictator, and it looks like she got both. I didn’t expect the shopping cart connection, though.

Some grocery store express checkouts in my neighborhood could really use a visit from Queen Rattlebasket. Ha!

The basket will come in handy for collecting candy if she doesn’t whomp too many of her foes.

Dill didn’t make it up—I remember reading about Wobblewheel and Rattlebasket in the Brothers Grimm… or was that the Arabian Nights?

In the utter brilliance of this strip don’t overlook the master stroke of the word ‘whomp’.

That whomping is done mainly upon the heads of peasants like Hilda Payswithcheck.

I know I’m still waiting for the caffeine to kick in, but for a nanosecond I read Dill’s title as “Catheters.” [Takes another gulp of coffee]
