Sequel to “Paper Moon” in which Moze and Addie (Ryan and Tatum O’Neal), go to France. Addie pretends to be a boarding school classmate of Madeline, and they approach her Papa demanding money for “wrongful incitement to have an unnecessary appendectomy.”

    Hi all,

Because the Throwback Masterpieces seemed to be well-received a few weeks back and there’s been some more discussion of revisiting old posts, I’m experimenting with making the strip’s Thursday selections throwbacks to an earlier era (i.e re-runs), starting with this one. Not sure if it will stick, but thought it might be fun to try for a bit. See what you think.

    Steve

I’ll report that cab driver for dropping / us off here. He then goes without stopping. / We are nowhere, instead / of what I clearly said, / “Drive us both to the Target for shopping.”

The Park on the Caillebotte Property at Yerres

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Caillebotte,_Parc.jpg

(best viewed with Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most webpages as necessary) has info and links that point to more info about this roughly jumbo envelope size painting. Other versions has the archive of the strip coloration image origin.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (⌘- or Ctrl-) clicking the image at

    https://thatispriceless.blogspot.com/2015/08/masterpiece-1279.html

I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to the artist info I used to point to here. So far, 14 works by this artist, have been used here (17 times total, including this Throwback Thursday repeat, and 2 earlier repeats).

    https://www.gocomics.com/that-is-priceless/2015/08/17?comments=visible

has the first time this was used here (the 18 hyperlinks in my comment there have been deactivated, but perhaps the text remains informative).

In the garden at Mr. Caillebotte’s/ the flowers are not kept in pots/ and the gardeners there/ are tres “laissez faire”/ which accounts for the uncovered spots…

For somebody like Courbet/ Caillebotte’s best would be mere child’s play/ and his finest display/ would elicit “Oy vey !”/ from somebody like Manet..
