Such a classy name, “Bucket of Blood”! Bogart the Roach has appeared as a police informant in at least two previous stories: April 3, 2012, and January 28, 2016. I don’t think we’ve seen him since.

I just realized that, besides the marijuana reference, I think that his hair and long beard hairs remind me somewhat of a cockroach.

Tracy in those jeans might give Captain America/Chris Evans some competition for America’s Best Behind.

What a whiplash! From the clean and tidy squad room to a dive bar that probably waters down the drinks and has a secret poker room in the back (codeword: “Gould sent me”).

It’s no little feat to get Tracy out of his usual raincoat and into a hoodie! Keeping it yellow helps him stay “on brand” while sporting the lower, undercover-ish profile. As Gweedo might say: LIKE!

The word “blood” should’ve been red.

Tracy is not wearing a suit, nor his trench coat, but a yellow hoodie and blue jeans. He really is “Plainclothes Tracy” today.

Writing from the hospital. Took a tumble down my back stairs. One broken leg. One severely dislocated leg. Will undergo surgery Wednesday. Will need a plate and several screws. Other than that, I’m planning on taking tap dance lessons when this is over.

Bogart dude is one way out cool cat. His underling(?) buddy has the Annie look going or maybe it only looks that way from squinting. ..Wondering if Bogart will choke when the name “Apparatus” comes up. Does he have an “in” on Rose and where she might be found ?

Shelley’s rendering of the B. man is fantastic !  I get a kick out of “blueshirt’s” throwaway person look and also that of the two dead guards from the other day.

Let’s focus on the bar for a moment. Outside the UK, The Bucket of Blood in Virginia City, Nevada, ( https://bucketofbloodsaloon.com/history/ )has been in operation since 1876 and claims to be the “original”. Besides, the UK is outside Tracy’s jurisdiction

So – trading in the yellow hat and trench coat for a yellow hoodie? Ever think of using another color as camouflage?

That’s a different look for Tracy, except that’s the signature yellow of his hat and overcoat.

Not the best disguise for Tracy, since his nose sticks out when he pulls the drawstrings.

Readers, note this date….not often that we see Tracy not wearing a suit…but jeans and a hoodie….imagine that!

I see that Bogart’s choice of smoke is a cigar. Stogie over here….stogie over there….all that is needed is for one of these characters in Tracy land to say " at ease….smoke ‘em if you got ’em". Oh wait that was Dan Rowan’s character of General Bull Right on Laugh-In.

1-In a seedy part of town, with buns a girl could bounce an anvil off of, a mystery man with a powerful thirst FOR INFO walks into a dive bar…

2-HENRY: There’s a tight-bunned fella here to see ya, boss.

BOGIE STOGIE Probably wants to apply to dance here on Ladies’ Night. Show him to my table, please.

3-BOGIE STOGIE: TRACY! You wanna dance here? Finally get kicked off the force for all those laws you bent? Well, from what I see, you’ll make more money here on Ladies’ Night than you ever did as a legit cop – assuming you were legit I mean.

DT: I’m still on the force and we’ll get back to that dancing thing – sounds good. But for now I need info and my usual snitch, that guy who sells balloons in the park is nowhere to be found.

BOGIE STOGIE: He’s a snitch?!?

DT: Oops. Uh, yeah. Forget I said that. And don’t worry. I’ve probably never let it slip that you’re a big tattle tale…oh. I might’ve told that Henry guy that I was here to see my snitch. But that’s the only time…probably…maybe…

He’s a gangster who’s obsessed with Napoleon.Bogie asks why Napoleon always kept one hand inside his coat.

I guess Pouch now has competition for the go-to guy for underworld intelligence for the MCU.

It’s a Different Look for quasi-undercover Dick Tracy! And the question of the day is, as The Roach himself puts it in panel 3, what can Bogart the Roach do for Tracy? What might he know that would be helpful?

Regardless, today’s strip is a nice visual change-of-pace for Tracy….
