Wow! Just think of all the “modern” things they invented back then. It boggles the mind.

I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.

It will make logging so horrible that mankind will abandon it.

He’s kind of using a cannon as a cannoff here.

When all you have is a cannon, everything starts to look like a target.

Now he needs to invent chain shot, that will take the trees down….

Reminds me of an article I read many years ago in OMNI magazine about using nuclear bombs to create channels to divert water from the Great Lakes.

WWII Trivia: The Seabees on Guadalcanal would take 105mm Howitzers and fill them 100’ lengths of chain. They would fire them at the trees to cut down several at a time.

There is no problem ‘man’ can encounter that cannot be solved by the judicious use of high explosives. (Alfred Nobel or that guy on “The A Team”? I don’t know.

Best use that I have seen for a cannon outside of war…….

When piston engines were first invented, the cylinders were bored with machines originally designed for making cannon barrels. Many of the best inventions have had their origins as warmaking technology.

I always thought a “paint bomb” would be a good quick way to paint a room, until I saw it in an episode of “Mr. Bean”

What we have here is multiple inventions: 1. Blast furnace, 2. Cast Iron, 3. Boring lathe, 4. Mined sulphur, 5. Refined potassium nitrate, 6. Charcoal (for the blast furnace and the gunpowder)

And, artillery is born! Aberdeen Proving Grounds beware! My X and his younger brother were both born when their father was a second Lt. stationed there.

Points for creativity. But BIG minuses for the eventual usages.
