    WWII Trivia: The Seabees on Guadalcanal would take 105mm Howitzers and fill them 100’ lengths of chain. They would fire them at the trees to cut down several at a time.

    When piston engines were first invented, the cylinders were bored with machines originally designed for making cannon barrels. Many of the best inventions have had their origins as warmaking technology.

    What we have here is multiple inventions: 1. Blast furnace, 2. Cast Iron, 3. Boring lathe, 4. Mined sulphur, 5. Refined potassium nitrate, 6. Charcoal (for the blast furnace and the gunpowder)
