The military had a weight requirement. A quite senior enlisted man, who was among the top in his rating, was evaluated by his division officers every year, and given top grades. But he was, as most men, slowly gaining weight over time. His early evals, during this focussed attention on weight, started with his height at 5’8". After 20 years, he had magically grown to 6’5", to keep his HWP within allowed guidelines.
