She is about to point out that raking the leaves was only the first item on the honey-do list.

I always frown on the neighbors around my neighborhood who always seem to rake all their leaves into a big pile and set them on fire.It often makes such a big stink that I have to drive into town to get away from it all.

I did a perfect job. Those leaves you see out there fell as I was putting the rake away. A minute ago though, the lawn was spotless.

Good answer, Gladys. You can’t comment on the quality of the job since you haven’t inspected it yet, and Brutus’ report on its completion didn’t include his assessment of its quality either.

Then again, does he ever congratulate her on all the jobs she does? She cooks his meals, keeps the house clean, does his laundry, does 90% or more of the child care.

Yesterday I raked leaves off of my deck for at least the third time this season. Then I started the lawnmower and ran over them several times. :-)

Brutus, just be thankful her response wasn’t, “Well, it’s about time”.

I found it’s faster to mow the leaves with a mulching mower. Supposed to be good for the lawn too. I’ve heard it’s better to just let the leaves blanket the lawn. Hmm, that would be even faster. ;)

Many of the neighbors prefer the rake and burn method. I just find it weird that they are doing it for their grass, but they burn a big patch in their grass in their ditches. Does that make any sense?

So tonight he can say, “Thanks, Gladys, for a dinner done.” I suspect it will be her first cooking compliment. He would be wise to compliment her, since he seems to also see her as his supervisor.
