Why put out the fire in the first place. Unless they’re planning on leaving the campsite, they have no reason to put out the fire. Assuming they dug a hole for the fire pit and removed trash from around the fire, you can just let the fire burn itself out while you curl up around it to sleep. Maybe they’ll do it that way next time.

Are they somehow able to see better with the “lights out”?
Are the eyes watching them eyes of their imaginations?

… and thus was born the “need” for a night light.

But Raymond Babbitt would say its too early to put out the fire (lights out at 11).

why don’t they just use the flashlights on their cell phones?

True, that. It’s not the dark that’s scary. It’s all those predators that hunt and kill things in the dark that spook me.

Beautiful as coral reefs are, this is the same reason I won’t SCUBA at night.

Assumes they are leaving the site instead of camping there. Otherwise a fire would provide warmth through the night.

Historically we have always worked to light the dark of night. Mostly because there were and are things in the dark of night that want to kill us.

Two lifelong cavemen behaving as if they’re first-time campers on a scout weekend? Ridiculous!
