THIS is my sister! She would correct the grammar in library books. She was the sort of person, who, if she saw a dead body, with “Your Next” written in blood, would dip her finger in the gore and correct it to read “You’re Next”.
Reminds me of a high school English teacher who was fresh out of Boston—took us a couple of weeks to start adding letters to some of the things she said—Grandma and Grammar was the first—she went though boxes of chalk writing out what she was saying……
Reading a book by a prolific author, much respected in his field, I was dismayed to find a number of apostrophe and quotation mark errors at the end of a chapter. If the book had not been published twenty years ago, and the author long ago retired, I would have offered to proofread his future works.
Better than one of my brothers, who sent out cards with a pre-embossed message – the “untouched by human hands” approach. When I pointed out the impersonal nature of such cards, the next year he sent me one hand-inscribed “touched by human hands”.

In reality or in spirit, teachers ALWAYS carry a red pencil. With the faith it will better humanity. And who’s to argue.
