Sheesh the way these 2 talk about each other (especially Opal who seems to actually find Earl disgusting!) and avoid each other, god knows why they’re still together, habit i guess. Well I get caught up in their story and forget about them just being cartoons lol however I’ve heard that Brian based them on a real life couple he knew, I wonder if they stayed together?!
Is Brian Crane now doing new Pickles strips Mondays thru Wednesdays and showcasing rerun Pickles strips Thursdays thru Saturdays? I guess the Pickles strip is in its last legs.
As we age, it’s just banter back and forth….frick n frack barbs…means nothing in actuality. They still love each other……and as we get older, it’s easier to speak our minds!
He has said he based them on a couple he knew (I think his in-laws). What impressed him was their obvious affection for each other which they expressed through the kind of habitual insults he portrays.
My husband and I were of the badge-wearing persuasion before we retired. One day last year we had to have Rescue and MTs here for a medical issue. I guess we were talking so morbidly when he was being assessed that the female Ambulance Paramedic finally asked him what we did. He told her, and she responded, “I knew it! I KNEW it!”

Maybe, but at least not bitter and cantankerous like grandma

We bought some really nice Gorgonzola at the deli today. Yum. For some cheeses, the older the better.

Okay, where’s the Pickles Extras page, where we can read the cartoons about the melody and the bicycle? I want to see those two as well!

You can be sick and tired of your spouses habits (and hygiene) and after decades of that, love them dearly.

To cheat on your significant other takes too much time and running around and once you are over 60, you rather just take a nap.

This arc reminded me of an old Red Wing Boot ad.

Sounds good! The older the cheese, the better. Just scrape off the mold, get fine red wine …. life couldn’t be better.

I could say Earl doesn’t know what he is talking about either, but then he is a grandpa and I am also, so he is full of it….wisdom.

Poor Nelson, Grandpa overloaded him with metaphors (well similes actually), and then Grandma piled on some more.
