If that’s the worst insult Arlo’s ever suffered, he’s had an easy life.

Been there. You try like crazy to make it the way she likes it and she breaks out a thimble. I’m really not as hungry as I thought I was. I just ate 6 hours ago.

Janis can only stomach a little of the Irish.

Fortunately Irish stew makes good leftovers. I wonder if Arlo made the real thing with lamb?

At least the skeptic look in the second panel is at the bowlettes and not at the pot. But the change she did was unexpected. I’d might have looked for something bigger than those.

OK, that’s her portion, the rest for ME. Never too much food, just too little time. Been using that line for some decades now… getting to take on a more absolute meaning.

Maybe just a little. Is it full of soggy carrots and gristly meat? Or venison?

Potatoes, carrots, onion and stew meat. Picked all that up yesterday for slow cooker preparation. Cold day, hot stew and a slice of yeasty chewy bread a good combination.

You generally eat less if you have a smaller plate/bowl.I prefer a smaller bowl that way it stays hot while I eat it.I like to go back for a second hot bowl.

I hope it’s not like Darrin’s client on Bewitched. They had to change the label to read Doggie Stew to sell it…

Those huge bowls full of stew would be pretty heavy to carry. Let Janis eat the way she prefers.

Yep. I’m aware. I grew up on real meals – home made cookin’. My wife, not so much. So, I’ll cook a really nice dinner & my wife and kids turn up their nose at it – they’d rather have pizza. This week’s example: Stuffed pork chops with sage dressing, glazed carrots, & asparagus spears with just a dab of hollandaise sauce.

When you get older your appetite wanes.

The chef always samples the food first.

I’m like Arlo in this regard. I raised 5 boys and a girl, and it’d make hearty stews, chili, soups. If I got a compliment it was worth the efforts.

Arlo didn’t exactly “bowl” Janis over.

As a cook, that really is reason to be insulted.

It drives me crazy when that happens….but I am the one doing it.

for the record, I subscribe to be “Bucket o’ Stew” approach.
