He’s been married a while, but he is never home so he and his wife can’t blame each other for lost stuff. If he loses a camera lens in Africa, he can’t blame Sylvia.

Did Dan lose his upper lip? Out of the rare appearances of Earl and Opal’s son-in-law, I thought he was clean shaven, not looking like Tom Selleck.

Who can get credit for “finding” Dan?

Wow! The son-in-law Dan finally reappears! He must have been in prison or smuggling cocain down in Latin America, or something…

It’s the “I can hold this over you” factor, Dan!

The floor grate would be one of the first places I’d look for a checkbook too. No telling how they manage to crawl in there, but then you can cross it off the list.

How do you know Dan is never home?

If Earl finds his keys, he should pocket them and let Opal keep looking until he finds the checkbook.

How come it’s Opal’s checkbook? Don’t they have a joint account, so it’s Earl’s, too? They shouldn’t/wouldn’t be using two checkbooks. Reconciling the bank statement would be difficult. The keys are Earl’s set of keys. That is different.

I will now use the universal parent question : “Where did you have it last?”
