The Idea is to be inside by the fireplace.

I like ice cream any time of year.

Winter can be the perfect time to collect some ice from a frozen river, creek, or pond – and use it to make homemade ice cream in an ice cream maker.

That’s gratitude for you. I thought it would be a nice change from Snow Cones.

At least he saved money on refrigeration.

A one-horse, open ice cream wagon. Brrrrr.

Probably the same type of guy who would like hot coffee (cocoa, tea, whatever) in the middle of summer!

I never really had the ice cream truck experience as a kid. I feel like I missed out on something big.

Having ice cream INSIDE by the fireplace makes a difference

At least it won’t melt and get your hands all sticky.

Why buy ice cream? Pour orange juice over snow and have a snow cone!

I had a girlfriend one winter in Santa Barbara who taught me the joys of eating ice cream on a cold day. You can linger over a cone for half an hour, rather than engaging in the mad rush against melting. She was good at lingering.

A friend opened an ice cream shop in the middle of winter in Frobisher Bay (Baffin Island). The lineup stretched down the mall hallway. (Yes we had a shopping mall, sort of!)

They need a hot toddy wagon. I’d go for that.

I like ice cream in the winter, but I do eat in indoors.

General Winter’s ice cream stand?

Less dripping from melting ice cream, though.

A friend and I would walk to the local dairy store during the winter and eat the treats on the way home. It didn’t matter if there was a blizzard, or if the temp was below 0°F. When it was super cold the trick was to lick quickly. Otherwise, your tongue would stick to the popsicle or Fudgsicle.

I was in Moscow, winter of 92. Three feet of snow everywhere, icicles six feet long and no kidding, an ice cream vendor in front of the hotel every day, selling cubes of rock solid vanilla. You couldn’t gnaw your way into it. Crazy Russians, standing in line for ice cream you could use to drive nails with.

Funnily enough, here in Vietnam a lot of people prefer eating ice cream in winter.
