I live in the Pacific Northwest and our weather is driven by the ocean, Canada/Arctic and the Rockies. Current wind from the north, about 2C; shifting to WSW this morning, warm and sunny; tonight, wind SSW, cold and moist. Westerly wind Monday, cold and rainy.
I was in a lounge at college years ago. I was talking to someone for hours about things. As I looked out the window, it rained, snowed, sleeted and then the sun came out.
Long ago, and far away, about 38 years and 950 miles, Denver had the “wait ten minutes,” saying but also one that went, “If you don’t like the weather wait thirty minutes, there’s a flight out of Stapleton.”
In Texas, the saying was “wait 10 minutes or drive 10 miles.” Sometime around middle school age, I realized that most of the major roads that could actually take you 10 miles away had a speed limit of around 60 mph. Which meant it would take about 10 minutes to get 10 miles away. I just always thought that was part of the joke.

We used to say that in Oregon, the land cursed by the Rain Gods. Didn’t know it applied anywhere else.
