On a personal note, this will be my last day at work as I retire from just over 40 years in the Electrical Power Industry this afternoon. I started as an apprentice straight out of school at 16. It’s been an interesting carreer :-)
Looking back at Ten Cats one year ago today and saw this sad post. It’s been a whole year since our friend Bob, (bbear) died.
Sad, so sad news… From Bob’s Facebook page:
Jim Wharton/Bob Wharton3 hrs ago · We wanted to let Bob’s many friends that his journey in this life came to an end this evening at 6 o’clock. Family members were with him and his passing was peaceful and painless. The family appreciates all the prayers and good wishes for Bob and the family. We will post his obituary on his page when funeral plans are finalized
When I was younger all I knew was the yellow daffodils. The when I was in my 20’s my Mom had a gardening book. The come in all sorts of colors & sizes. I planted some that had clusters of mini daffodils in all sorts of colors. They are amazing.
LOVE my daffodils, especially the little double fragrant Spring Cheerfulness which are almost done for the season. Came home from my trip to find my white lilac bush is finally blooming after 3 years, and the tomato seeds had sprouted. We will have one lovely month of spring before the temps start climbing, and still no rain.
I did stop at urgent care after my mammogram this morning. The doc said he was sure the pains were because of the stents but to either call my surgeon or go to ER. Not doing that.
FF to about 20 minutes ago. The surgeon called. Anyone want to guess where I’ll be on the 11th?
Thanks to all of you for your replies to my post yesterday about the storm. After 78 degrees yesterday before the (now confirmed) tornado, tonight we will have a frost. So much of our town was damaged, it is quite sad. I did discover at 7 this morning, while out with my dog, a tree close to the property line with the next-door neighbors, had gone down from the winds yesterday and landed across their driveway. I walked over and tried to tug at the upper small branches to see if I could break them off, but it was quite resistant. I sent a messenger message to them, and shortly after, the patriarch drove a dozer up and pushed it into the tree line. They own a tornado shelter business and have much equipment for such problems. They have often called me when we are under tornado warning, and invited me to join them in the underground shelter. I say that I appreciate their invite, but I will stay in the bathtub with my animals, I would never abandon them.
There are daffodils outside my house. Unfortunately, they don’t flower often , because they don’t get enough sunlight. (They grow in a shady part of the yard.) On another note, saw two juncos, five robins, and a towhee while out walking today.
Good for you! I hope you really enjoy your retirement. It took my husband about 6 months to come to terms with no longer going to work where he had worked for over 31 years. Since then he has enjoyed almost every day. I, on the other hand, didn’t have any trouble at all, but I knew I wanted to stay home. Have a celebration.

After my mammogram this morning, I’m going to stop by urgent care to see if they can do something about these abdominal pains.

SOMETHING (or someone) has been eating my daffs! Only in the back (fenced yard, so no deer, but gee, aren’t they deer-proof anyway?). Waaah!
