I know that sometimes this comic draws people in really unflattering positions, but what reason does Liz have in panel 3 for that really disgusting pink snot ball coming out of her nose?
Speaking as a day (grandparent) home provider: parent should leave something a kid recognizes as important to parent. Just the first couple of times. an object, hat, coat, stuffy … is good. (kid just needs to recognize it as important to parent.) and please just leave, if you linger kid plays on your insecurity. (5 minutes, or less, kid will be too involved with toys or an activity to care if parent is there.)

If Liz heard, April heard it too. What surprises me is April understanding what her mom is saying.

One would think that April would be raring to go to daycare to see Becky.

Never underestimate the intelligence and perceptiveness of a young child! Their little brains are learning at warp speed.

I hid from the babysitter once. Of course, I was at the neighbor’s house, so it wasn’t much of an escape, but it was kind of exciting.

Barney had a habit of doing that when it was time to get him into his carrier for a vet appointment.
After I’d called the clinic to cancel and reschedule, he’d mysteriously reappear.

It is a really bad idea to sneak out without telling the kid you are leaving. If you are trying to frighten the kid, that is a good way to do it.

April is the perfect combination of all the Pattersons:
Michael’s intelligence, John’s creativity, Liz’s kindness…
And absolutely NONE of Elly!
