How about memorizing the page number?

Rose gets it.

Rose, now you’re big enough to know that real readers don’t use a bookmark, they memorised the number of the page and what was the last phrase they read.

I got a chuckle from Sterling crawling all over Dad in the 2nd panel.

Amelia and Spud having yet another lover’s quarrel, wonder what it’s about this time..?

Find a leaf or see if anyone has a Kleenex.

That is why I like all the inserts in magazines and catalogs. Make great bookmarks!

Here’s a trick Rose. Ask everyone there to memorize the page number. Then when you get back write down every number they remember as well as what you remember. Divide the total count of the page numbers by the number of people who remembered a number. That’s the page number! Simple, right?

There must be a program or a scorecard somewhere close by!

Sterling is always on the alert for mayhem.

Rose’s reverence for books is admirable, but I’ll stick with my Kobo. It remembers for me.

That said, I admit to being with Rose on this—I always cringe at the practice of dogearing pages.

I bet Wallace’s dad can spare some paper from his clipboard. Or maybe his cap bill until she’s back in the dugout.

No serious reader like Rose would have forgotten her bookmark. If she was already reading it, she would have had to stop to come to the game, so she would have needed her bookmark then. And I guarantee that Rose puts a bookmark into her next book before she even starts it.

Lastly, isn’t that why they keep Spud around?

Another reason why I like Rose: She likes books. Not just the knowledge and the stories in them, but the books themselves.
