Itâs always fun getting a new and exciting pain and wondering if itâs a tweak, or something youâll be feeling every day for the rest of your life.
Letâs seeâŠ.. RA at 13, it was mid school year when I started having issues, so around March or April. I walked over to the hospital at lunch time so it was nice weather. Ruptured 3 disks in the low back in 91, so there is that as well. So growing old pains? I wish I knew what a pain free day was!!!!
Pains as well as aches are like family and acquaintances. They let you know youâre still alive so you learn to sort of like to see them show up but mostly you love to see them go.
Only âcureâ Iâve found, though very-temporary, is to go into town, and see someone in worse-health than myself at age 73, and still be thankful that I can make those painful steps by myself, yet. All the while knowing I will eventually-become as immobile and dependant on others as they are now, soon.
If not for my-wife? I just wonât say what my-âsolutionâ might involve. Sheâs the ONLY-reason I fight it, and if not for her? Iâd literally say to hell with todayâs âhealthcareâ and doctors.
Yet, for some reason, sheâs still here, after 40-years of marriage. Must be my-railroaderâs pension, as she plans to retire at 62-herself? âș!
Life expectancy for most pluggers was < 70 when they were born. Fun fact, when Social Security was first set up with a 65 retirement age the male life expectancy was 57 and the female 60.
As Lowell George and Little Feat sang in Old Folks Boogie, âSo you know, that youâre over the hill, When your mind makes a promise that your body canât fillâ

Often itâs âWhere did that pain come from?â
Sometimes itâs âWhat did I do?â
Usually itâs âWhich way should I (try to) move?â

I keep forgetting Iâm not as young as I remember being not that long ago. A lot of people under 45 have trouble understanding that one.

I know exactly when and where each pain started. None of this âwear and tearâ for me.
