“Huh?” is right! So, was it a sting operation? Did Matt spill the beans to Tracy and they set up the buy or not? If so, it was a poorly run sting operation if they failed to catch Coffy making a switch with the packages like he did. Also, I’m pretty sure that you don’t actually have to sell the perp real narcotics in these type of stings. As long as the perp thinks he’s buying illegal drugs, that’s good enough to make the arrest.
“Don’t hesitate…” If Coffy wants to snag Matt again he will make sure that no calls can be placed. If it’s a home phone then the old movie trope of cutting the wire on the outside applies and if it’s a cell, can go where the real dope went. I would just break the thing myself; and meanwhile… In yesterday’s it looks like they might get a cab back to The Ajax for retrieval. Matt looks like he would be more comfortable in a protective custody scenario. I can’t wait to see his and Dot’s next (cold shoulder) encounter.
I read DT first thing every morning, for enjoyment and normalcy, as I have done for over 65 years. I followed the latest storyline. I’m not sure why one would try to “write” more into the story? I enjoy DT and I really enjoy the art. The puzzled look on DT’s face is priceless today.
An interesting thing happened yesterday. Will Clinger, a well-known Chicago actor friend of mine (we used to have the same agent) who is a familiar TV Host and has been on the air for over 11 years with the program Wild Chicago" and now his program Wild Travels was mugged on a Chicago El Train at the Wrigley Field station (Chicago Cubs ballpark—less than a mile from my home) last night. He was robbed of his phone, watch, and wallet. He attempted to chase the robbers but was hit from behind with some blunt object and knocked out. He was found unconscious on the train platform and is now in intensive care with a brain bleed.
Like Dot, he made the news because of his notoriety and popularity. But unlike Dot, he is interested in the police prosecuting whoever did this and not worried about any negative blowback to his television program. In fact, more people will likely tune in to see how he’s doing and to hear him tell his story.
So, if I understand this, (& I probably don’t) Matt just confessed to Tracy that he committed an illegal drug deal, before Tracy admitted they have no evidence Matt committed an illegal drug deal.
Not unreasonably, Matt McCullar is distressed to hear that Coffyhead is every bit as free to go as he is. I’m sure he anticipates another confrontation, with or without a Second Kidnapping of Dot View (and why did the first go unpursued by Law in Tracyville?). Tracy hints at some surveillance of Coffyhead but in the next breath tells McCullar to “call if you need help,” which sounds not terribly reassuring to him (panel 3). Tracy may be doing all the Law allows, but for Matt (and maybe also Dot) it’s a very dicey game!…

Good morning™, everyone!
Matt is free, but it cuts both ways. He’s all for Dot (if she’ll still have him). Lucky for him, Tracy is on his side.

So, is Tracy dumb enough to think that nothing happened?

My mom said to always say something nice so here goes;
That’s a very fine tie Tracy has!
Regarding the logic and continuity of the story,

1-DT: You can go, Astro. It appears that there’s no law against lip-syncing or pretending to be a singer. ASTRO: What? So no MILLI-VANILLI FRAUD LAW?
2-DT: Nope. Feel free to continue your charade. ASTRO: No way, Tracy. I’m going straight! Do you have any jobs I might be able to do?
3-DT: Well, our lab guy just exploded his heart snorting that fake cocaine you were selling. You know anything about lab work?
ASTRO: Hmmm… Anything About Lab Work ? No but if you hum a few bars I CAN FAKE IT!!! HA! What? Too soon?
DT: No, you should definitely pursue comedy!
ASTRO: Really?
DT: No.

My guess, right or wrong: Matt will go and try to dig up the evidence to nab Coffyhead.

If confronted, I get the impression Matt will do the job on Coffeyhead himself. Later for all that calling business if he needs help.

Moral of this storyline for Matt…don’t go to anymore unlit deserted nightclubs.

What will Vitamin think of his “discovery” now when he learns Matt’s side job involved drug distribution? After all he was merely a supplier.
IvanB.Cohen over 2 years ago
Not a thing, besides the audience enjoys Tonsil’s six arms routine. The theater of Vitamin’s will have sold-out for all performances.

One mildly interesting hidden comment is that the delivery was apparently to feed Coffyhead’s PErSONAL drug habit and not to feed outside customers.
