From yesterday’s comments about my brother John. He is my oldest. brother. My sister, Martha (RIP) was the oldest, then Mary was next, then John. John isn’t really part of any of our lives. We let him come to our Christmas dinners, but otherwise don’t communicate with him. We rent the fellowship hall at a church for our Christmas dinner so nobody needs to do the extra work in their own homes. Daniel (my one younger brother) and I do most of the meal preparation. Paul gives me money to offset my cost of making the fudge and other foods I furnish for the meal. Jim and Mary help with the food prep and cleanup. Joe, Mark and Jim furnish some of the food. John sits on his duff and feeds his face. But last Christmas was one of our best because Mary and I rose up and said people who don’t cook needed to help clean up. John strongly objected to having to dry dishes, but Mary and I got a real kick out of seeing him doing something for once in his life. We’ll jump on him to clean up on Christmas every year from now on. Maybe then he’ll stop coming, which would be okay with us.
Annies’ admonition to those scalliwags is what I tell my two all of the time.Allergy season is here, darn it. Been up since 1:20. Just me and box of Kleenex. Took pills but they aren’t strong enough.
If anyone should inherit the Earth, it should be Oliver. He’s as meek as they come. On another note, saw six robins, two ravens, a wren, and a rabbit while out walking today.
Yesterday my dog’s vet and I helped Lady Bird cross the rainbow Bridge. The vet almost couldn’t stop Birdy’s pain anymore, and the heart murmur was worse. So I held her as she went to sleep, then went on across. She had definitely been my heart dog, although I’ve had many I loved so much. But Birdy had so much to overcome. When I adopted her, she had brain and spinal injuries. She “walked funny” but got around just fine for 3 years. This last year she has crawled, and I padded a hand truck to assist her in getting outside. At first she could crawl faster than I could walk. But at 14 years old (which is about as old as a Brittany will get), she was falling often (while tending to business) or off her “uber”. When our vet said it was time, I agreed. Everyone who worked there came in to love on her a bit and shed tears. Birdy had a standing, 2:00 on Mondays appointment, for nearly 2 years for cold laser therapy. So everyone there had helped her for a long time. I will ask Gweedo to to post a picture of her tomorrow.

Whichever one called for New York can have it as far as I’m concerned. I just want someplace warm.

“Blessed are the meek…” Indeed! What would bossy cats like Chesney & Jack do without them!
