Garfield is like no cat I know. Most of the cats that ate on my porch would take 10 minutes to eat a handful of cat food. Not that I ever fed them donuts, you understand.
I can read Garfield and comment on his shenanigans while wagging my head. I have to admit it isn’t always easy and I make typos from time to time but it mostly worrx out…
Uh-Oh, We’re In Trouble, donuts came Along and Burst my Bubble. My diet is shot now, I want Donuts with icing and sprinkles. Maybe some cream filling too. I must go to Krispy Kreme. Garfield it’s all your fault!!! Diet is shot. Uh-Oh, We’re In Trouble, And When We Get In We’re Gonna Get Fat!
Besides, these days, a lot of them you buy in stores, either bakery or boxed, give me odd heartburn or come back up on me. So, the decision is made easier.
The ability to eat quickly is a primitive survival mechanism, to avoid predators. The ability to store the food as fat is also a survival mechanism, as the animal (or proto-human) can’t be sure where and when its next meal comes. But to lose weight one can chew slowly and thoroughly, letting the saliva mix with the food, savoring the flavor.

If you could actually taste all of the donut-y goodness of what you ate so fast, I might be impressed.

My cats never liked donuts, but then the dog always got to the crumbs first.

I saw the barn cat catch and eat a cute chipmunk and disembowel an adorable baby bunny. It won’t touch a doughnut.

Now that’s a power of super-inhalation if I ever saw one. Too bad the power of super-sharing isn’t in Garfield’s repertoire.
