In the 1950 Republic serial Flying Disc Man from Mars, Kent Fowler has purchased a few WWII-surplus fighter planes for his aerial surveillance business. They, too, come equipped with their original fully loaded and functional machine guns.
This whole scenario is confusing. Powder puff derby with planes? Marcie buying into the belief that Snoopy’s doghouse is a plane? What is happening here?
The F.1 version used by the Royal Flying Corps was the main production version, powered by a 130 hp Clerget 9B rotary engine & armed with twin Vickers synchronized guns. The 2F.1 was used by the Royal Naval Air Service, & was powered by a 150 hp Bentley BR1 rotary engine.
I don’t think I would remove the machine guns. Sopwith Camels were known to be deadly on take-off. The extra forward weight probably helped with take-offs more than hindering.

Patty and Marcie have an imagination as good as Snoopy’s.

No need for the machine gun, Patty can shoot her mouth off with the best of them!

I wouldn’t call that plane a “beauty”. It’s more like… garbage.

Only 150 hp? That doesn’t seem like a lot. My Toyota Yaris has 106 hp.

One of the 3 roof slats must have been the machine gun, because Snoopy has removed it in the last panel.

Depending on how competitive you are, the guns may be useful.

Snoopy doesn’t use machine guns. He prefers laser pistols.
