Can anyone theorize what his medical condition is supposed to be in this storyline?

I guess they decided that the story was making too much sense, and it should make less.

Panel 2:5: Gil: “Um, Greggggg, we’re over here. You’re talking to the flag pole.”

P1.5- ….or you can wear a football helmet with a lineman face mask. And a mouth guard. And thigh and knee pads. And a flak jacket. And shin guards from the field hockey team.

P2.5 “But I will ask, will one of you pull my finger? I can’t do that either.”

So if he protects his head, Gil is ok with him being unable to field his position? And if he doesn’t take large print tests, he must not need them. He would have flunked out long ago.

Gregg would also need a massive external jock apparatus.

P4 Dr. Maisano thought bubble: “That was a mighty skillful finger-pull, I wonder if I should ask “Coach” Thorp to pull mine too?”

P 4: “….except to fetch us water and Gatorade, son…”

In all reality , Congratulations to the Girls Softball Team for clinching Second Place in the Valley.

P 3 (Maisano mouths words): “….just say ‘ok’….this doofus will forget…”

Hey, genius! Wouldn’t the mask obscure his vision even more?

Gil admits that Mimi didn’t bother to field a softball team this year, so they might as well make some use of the equipment. At least now Greggg will be protected against all those bunts that will be bouncing in his face, since that’s what every batter he faces will be hitting from now on.

Cue Meatloaf: “But I Won’t Do That!”

What about the safety of all of the other players on the field? Pitchers with normal vision hit batters by accident.

Why would you put a blind kid on the field at all? He’d be lousy and a safety liability. In other words, the whole package!

Awesome that the ophthalmologist or whoever comes up with the mask helmet idea and not Milford’s AD!
