It can be a fun adventure (or a game) – you just need the right outlook. Like Mary Poppins said, “In every job that must be done there’s an element of fun.” “Find the fun and the job’s a game.” “Every task you undertake becomes a piece of cake.”
Reminds me of a Peanuts cartoon which started with Charlie Brown saying to his teacher, “Yes, ma’am. It will be a privilege.” Lucy scoffed, “Huh! Some privilege!” It turned out that he was to take the chalk dusters outside and beat the dust off them. In the last panel, he collapsed under the dust cloud and gasped, “I could die of this privilege!”
In Flagstaff it is pine needles. A couple years ago I got an expensive gutter cap system that promised I would not have to set a 20 foot ladder on uneven ground any more to clean the gutters. My wife never had to do that so she does not see the value. I knew it was only a matter of time before I had a gruesome fall if I kept it up, and the services that clean gutters are often backed up until mid-winter (when the gutters are full of ice with pine needles in it) when the autumn wind cleans out the trees.
Back in 1965 our home in Overland Park KS was nestled in a forest Oak & Maple trees gutters would fill up with leaves until they became mulch soil for ‘hele copter’ maple seeds that sprouted into tiny trees. Terrifying job to clean gutters on back of house over a 2 story drop to driveway. Got on the roof with rope tied around chimney.

Isn’t it a little early to be gutter cleaning, or are those leaves from last year?

Dude! You’re 15 feet up on a cheap ladder. You life and limb has never been in greater danger. That’ll do.

Just like Boomy, the Wiz doesn’t always use magic to solve things…

Put in a call to Ed Crankshaft. He’d be glad to help. However, the price of a new house has gone through the roof.
