Ummm. “Babe,” Lorne? That doesn’t help. Mike will continue to think you’re her boyfriend. Oh, sorry, Yeah. You don’t care because you think he’s a dweeb…oh, I see. You said “Babe” on purpose, didn’t you?
She must have a more senior cashier job to be able to leave 15 minutes before closing. I would think that with 15 minutes left before closing that the cashiers would be extra busier!
It was odd the first time around, so you think Lynn woulda fixed it this time thorough like the other updates she does. “Step on it girl” would work just fine.
Ya know, I think brothers can be overly protective. He called Michael a dweeb straight away. I think this confusion and misdirection is aimed right at Mike to throw him off and make him think Rhetta is not available.Makes me wonder if Lynn had a big brother?Goofy teenage stuff. Fun to watch.
Michael seems to have a problem with relationships and personal space. He was stalking Martha in the shopping mall. He also stalked Allyson Creemore, in that he was an accomplice to Gordon’s stalking of her.
Rhetta ( not pronounced as ree-ta but reh-ta ) is a female version of Rhett – apparently her Mom liked the character Rhett Butler from the movie " Gone With the Wind"…or just thought it would be a nice name for a girl.
My granddaughter’s brother (from a previous marriage) saw a picture of who he thought was her, asked when did she wear her hair like that. She told him that was not her but her grandmother (me) when we were both 14 yrs old. We looked exactly alike. Smile.
Mike should step in and offer her a ride, so he doesn’t have to wait. Could this be a set up between brother and sister to see if Mike is really interested?
An older brother would call his sister ‘babe’ if he knew it annoys her. I never called my younger babe, even though she was one, not fair she got the smarts and the looks.
Not sure if the original publication date lines up or not but “babe” might be an attempt at putting down his sister by referring to her as Babe, as in Babe the pig which was released somewhere back in the 90’s. Kind of like Mike calling Liz “Lizard breath”? Just a thought and i’m probably wrong, but that’s the type of thing a brother would do to his sister.
I just thought of that…19 hours after you did, does that still count as ‘a DAY late and a dollar short’? I think your reasoning is sound (well, I would, wouldn’t I) and that is exactly what an older brother would do, in fact my younger sister is lucky that the movie didn’t come out while I was still home

I would think Mike would see a resemblance, since they’re brother and sister.

I never had a real brother, but I had a cousin and my cousin never called me babe. That would give people the wrong idea or impression.

She has to stay until they tell her she can go. Stop being so rude. Mike will think you’re a jerk of a boyfriend.

Brother calling sister “babe” lacks verisimilitude—cheap way to keep Mike confused.

What brother calls his sister, “Babe”? Very unlikely.

Michael would probably develop a crush on this guy who seems to be just as much of an a-hole as he is.

What does Lynn have against this dead horse? She’s been beating it for about a week now. We get it. Mike thinks Rhetta’s brother is her boyfriend.
