I like a mixture of different hot cereals — it makes a more interesting texture. I mix together 1 box (each) of cream of wheat, cream of rice, Maltex, Maypo (if I can get it), 4 cups of oatmeal, 2 cups of corn meal and 1 small box of Grape Nuts. I mix these in a big bowl and store it in a ziploc bag in the refrigerator (…the stuff goes rancid in the Texas heat..). I bring 2 cups of water to a boil and then stir in 1/2 cup of the mixture. It cooks up in about 5 minutes. I add milk and sweetener (usually honey or maple syrup). It makes a lot of cereal so I often eat half and place the rest in the refrigerator to heat up the next day in the microwave.
to say that cream of wheat tastes like wallpaper paste would be a grievous insult to wallpaper paste…

A dab of butter or margarine, plus a load of sugar, maybe brown sugar or maple syrup, now we’re talking food for the gods.

It’s not bad with cinnamon on it.

Prefer Cream of Wheat with a little honey, raisins or blueberries and a dab of butter.

I am having my Cream of Wheat today with a liberal amount of Nesquik Chocolate Sauce.

Grits, coarsely ground corn. Corn meal mush, more finely ground corn.
(Grandpa Green switched to cream of wheat after the 1957 car accident took away his sense of smell.)
Anything is good with enough black pepper.

Grandma does not sugar-coat it in many ways. :)

Eating it plain yes. What @pschearer says.

Grandma obviously doesn’t cook it with milk and a bit of brown sugar.

I actually like Cream of Wheat. I don’t know how grandma can afford it, I sure can’t. Unless it’s government surplus or some generic brand.

I loved it as a child. Liked Wheatena better, though.
