Ah, yes, The Slinky! I haven’t thought of them in a long time!

But once the designer followed that formula, Mr. Slinky was on his own!

The last time I bought one, it was plastic and not nearly as much fun. Not sure if they still make the metal type, but I couldn’t find it.

That Formula works every time !

To think this toy used to keep kids (and adults) amused going downstairs. Noone thought to analyze it and its concept.

Over thinking gravity?

Will it work? Without elastic potential energy figured in, it’s just a guess.

My slinky’s never got the math right. They’d always go sideways after a few steps.

I remember this from school and physics. In physics we had a toy chest. We played a lot.

Some people remind me of a Slinky. Not much good for anything but give you a smile when you push them down the stairs.

I took high school physics a year before I took trig. Solving triangles and vectors took me a bit longer than it would have the following year. It didn’t help that the material was presented graphically. The Parallelogram of Forces looked incomprehensible. I’m a text person. Algebra would have been better. It’s basically text.

I have a green Slinky, as opposed to the metal one of my youth. Every March I take it out on St Patty’s Day, announce it as my “Irish Spring”.
