White people should not be allowed near certain spices.

He may not know how to cook, but it appears he’s a great dad.

I’ve always wondered… Why do parents talk to their children in the third-person? “Mommy loves you!” “Daddy has no idea what he’s doing.” etc.

It seems (sounds) a little like he does have an idea what he’s doing. It’s like he’s putting too much in on purpose. Is he hoping to get out of doing this in the future? Is he trying to make his wife feel more important?

You don’t actually put any cumin IN the pot. Just wave the bottle over it. You can take the lid off, if you want a little stronger flavor….

On a Food Network show, I remember one judge sampling a mystery dish and saying, “Tastes like cumin” followed by ominous music and a close up of another judge asking, “Did she say, ‘Tastes like human?’” I always think of that now when I hear that there is cumin in a dish.

Wait ’til he gets to the paprika. Too much of that and it bites back!

I have a sense that a lot of cooks play it by ear when it comes to measuring anything – even cooking sherry.

I managed to get Montreal Steak Seasoning in a huge bottle or two from Amazon. My Aussie husband loves it, and I have to remind him that a little is a lot :)

Don’t get me wrong, he’s come a long way from the man who could only make noodle cups. I’ve had three joint replacements in 13 years and he has learned to cook quite well! He made me pancakes and bacon for my birthday yesterday :) Bisquick, but it still counts. I’ll teach him to make Adirondack flapjacks someday :)

Spent 10 1/2 years in the UK (courtesy of the USAF) loved the diversity of spicy foods I can’t eat now (I’m old ya’ll). Turmeric is still my go to spice though.

Another man-hating, men-can’t-do-anything comic. There are plenty of male chefs out there that would put others to shame!
