I do that if I’m walking a long time. I won’t admit weakness since I want to be moving as much as possible. Alas, I can only hide the pain for so long.
I walk 4 miles every morning. I breathe heavily because of the pain. My wife used to teach prepared childbirth classes. I learned the breathing exercises from her. They do work at least to point.
In a couple of weeks I will have an operation to remove the obstruction in my leg that is causing the pain.
I don’t breathe heavily from walking very often, as I walk daily. I have to really be at almost running speed for a long distance before I notice any difference in breathing.
BTDT, but now that I have horrible pain in my right leg and right foot from venus statis and bad back and hips I can’t do either anymore, I had to move from a two story house to a first floor apartment because I can’t do stairs easily, if I have to do them I have to bascially crawl up on my hands and knees and take one step at a time going down. My Dad lives in apartment above mine and I have gone up there a couple of times but the stairs make me hurt for a couple of hours so he comes down to me when I need him for something or to run an errand for me. I limp when I walk and have to walk slowly and have to use motorized carts in stores. I just turned 50 but my body thinks and acts like it is 90.

I think I am, but someone still usually asks if I’m alright.

Heck no. They can’t hear me, cause they are hassling for breath themselves.

Dangit Aunty. Lately it seems like you’ve been singing from my songbook.

I used to. Then I started walking more and increasing my cycling mileage and now I am back to breathing easier.

I stop, look behind me, and pretend to enjoy the view. Or fake a phone call.

I don’t care what strangers think, but I don’t need the family nagging me!
