I wonder why GT never developed a “symbol” for Trump, as he had with Gingrich, Bush, etc.

I like the way Prickly City shows Trump as a skunk with orange hair. That would’ve worked for Doonesbury, too.

“…slavish dependence on opinion polls…”. Shortly after his election, Bill Clinton said that he would base most of his decisions on opinion polls. He also bragged about stealing ideas from Republicans. Just what I want in a Democratic president. Republican lite.

Things haven’t really changed all that much, have they?

I actually miss the days (there really were a few of them) when real, god forbid, moderate, civil and honest Republicans tried to work in good faith with Democrats toward finding solutions that drew on the strengths of all points of view. Or Maybe I’m just having my summer fantasy. I miss having real choices when voting. Is that too much to ask?

So, pretty much everything that makes the “News” juicy. Sort a sad, that.

I hope it will eventually “come to” all of us. A lot of the current continuing impasse in Congress is due to a well-intentioned effort to reduce all the “horse trading” that used to go on to get bills passed. Unrelated elements were often tacked onto important bills as a form of compromise. Yes, it was subject to abuse, but things did get done. Now – not so much.

So many years later and it is more the case now, sad.

Hedley is hopeless.
