Make sure the sun is behind you as you spray so you can view a rainbow

Like many things, we know more about them than we understand.

I start at the top and work my way down. Wash an area, then rinse before it starts to dry.

Other than Caulfield having more sass in him than should be tolerated, I like this one. I think Mr. Mallett intended understanding of physics and car ownership to include more than just rainbow making. KE=1/2 MxV^2 comes to mind.

I’ve been a proponent of a basic physics test as a requirement for a driving license for many decades. Alas, my reason has nothing to do with washing cars.

When it comes to car washing, I am obsessed with clean windows front, back, sides. I hate when there are streaks or that film on the inside of the windows. A touch of Meguiars Gold in a clean bucket of water, clean cotton rags (one for wet; one for dry), car out of the sun and the windows cool, not heated up. Rub/wash thoroughly, dry quickly.

Living in a drought-prone state, I have a wildly different view of “car-washing” than the cartoon characters in this strip.

Just up the road from me is a “carwash” that takes place inside a building where all water is recaptured and reused. In my “neck of the woods” the cost of water is fortunately so high most people don’t think spraying it in the air to feed a bunch of grass (which serves no purpose other than “looking good”) or cleaning a vehicle (which functions just as well “dirty” as it does when it’s clean).

In my world, a vehicle serves a purpose (other than as “eye candy”) or it doesn’t exist, though it took my wife more than a year to reach the same conclusion when she bought her last new car.

    Psychedelicized cleaning?

That may be the way to make a rainbow, but it’s not how one washes a car. Unless you want lots of water spots, wash in the shade, and take the nozzle off the hose.
