When my aunt turned 75, she could outlast us all on road trips, go without sleep for 24 hours and keep going while we were all dying. She told me, “The older you get, the tougher you get.” It’s true, I found—you have to get tougher to handle all the old age stuff.
At least he can describe the pain, I ain’t got a clue except where it might be hurting… still, I’m sure my list would be short too… might need a magnifying glass to see the scribbles. :D
My grandmother used to say, “Everything hurts, and what doesn’t hurt doesn’t work”. I used to shrug it off as just the way old people are, but the more time goes on, the more I feel her pain.
Due to heredity and way too many years in multiple martial arts, etc, I have osteoarthritis. My elbows do not yet hurt. Good shoes are a must, as they are our foundation. I walk a lot, and the wrong shoes can even make my neck ache. I totally understand Uncle Ted’s response. The older we get, the shorter the list of “doesn’t hurt” gets. I am down to elbows. My wrists, knees and ankles were good until a bad fall a few years ago. Walking (and one little surgery) plus “chicken fat” shots are so far keeping my original knees going. The broken ankle healed. I won’t be breaking any more boards with my hands. That is not a skill I have use for anymore.
Like Ted, I, too, seem to be adding to my woes as time goes on. I’m afraid more of my parts’s warranty’s have expired. But, I’m adapting and finding out…life is good.
I’m over 70 and my only chronic pain is a little arthritis in my wrist and I only feel it when I do my weight workouts 3 times a week. Must be getting old….

Diarrhoea for me this morning. I’ve been running to the bathroom 5 times. And here it’s only 9:40 am

I am always considerate of my doctor’s time. That’s why I give him a short list of what doesn’t hurt. And I do mean short!

Pain from yesterday’s hernia surgery has moved south this morning. Oh great. I’ll have a Tylenol please, and make it a double.

Uncle Ted, are you perhaps hinting that if Brutus were to leave you would have one less ache or pain?

I like Uncle Ted. Notice that smile in the last panel? He’s such an agreeable, calm person. I always feel good after one of his appearances.

Uncle Ted’s situation is beginning to sound too familiar and ring too many bells.

My mom has similar problems to those of Uncle Ted but, like Uncle Ted, she just takes it in stride and doesn’t complain.

That’s what happens when you get older!
