Acid-free paper is paper that, if infused in water, yields a neutral or basic pH (7 or slightly greater). It can be made from any cellulose fiber as long as the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing. It is also lignin- and sulfur-free. Lignin is the organic substance in plants that makes their cell walls strong and rigid. As it degrades in paper made from wood pulp, the paper becomes more acidic. The paper turns yellow and brittle and eventually falls apart.
Acid-free paper addresses the problem of preserving documents and artwork for long periods or time. It has a life expectancy of at least 500 years (and over 1,000 years for the best grades). The production of acid-free or alkaline paper is beneficial because it requires fewer corrosive [and expensive] chemicals, making it much easier on the machinery and required a lot less energy for the refining and drying process. And the process is significantly more environmentally friendly: Waste water and byproducts of can be all be recycled .
I think the idea here is that the paper in the drug testing room is being drug-tested for having LSD in it’s “system”. If it passes a "drug-free " test then it can be sold as “acid” free… kinda subtle, I like this one ;)

They don’t have to do this with your regular basic paper.

Your cheaper paper is not acid-free, so if you accidently let a ream of the stuff fall, you are dropping acid.
