In my youth we played âkick and smearâ. The ball got kicked and whoever got it had to try to get to the other end of the field. And we didnât wear helmets. Great fun.
I am glad to see that the rules and officiating in football have been changed to protect the players better. Some players used to delight in spectacular collisions rather than actual tackles.
I know that to some people this âemasculatesâ (to use a word that is becoming popular with some politicians) the game, but I still think itâs a good idea.
