I snip a screenshot of my online coupons and email it to myself instead of printing. I don’t forget my phone because if I do, the bluetooth radio in the car won’t work!
Suffering from Old Man Syndrome, I do remember the clock with the cat’s wagging tail and sliding eyes, often mounted over the kitchen sink’s window. Also as part of OMS my car dutifully connects with my phone sitting next to the list but going around the corner she announces “Phone Disconnected.” Usually I keep driving because the phone isn’t needed, I have the list and corresponding coupons in my pocket…
Wow, a Felix the Cat clock. I haven’t seen one of those in ages. Either they need to update their kitchen decor or they made a great find at a yard sale.
Personally I find that I don’t need a list if there are 5 or less items and that doesn’t count ice cream. I never have to put ice cream on my list. It’s a given!
I have my shopping list on the phone as I forget the paper. I use memo though. I use the camera to take pictures of confusing pricing tags on items. I find if I show the picture we don’t have to play the game of somebody going to check the price. One cashier thanked me for doing so on one strange item.
My son introduced me to an app called OurGroceries. Everybody who might go to the store or wants things on the list emails the first person who installs the app, then their apps are included in the common lists. (I hope I am clearer than I think about it.) Anyway, everybody has a copy of the list that is updated in real time. It isn’t too late to add or remove items from the list as long as the shopper has not already picked it up or has not begun to check out… which is seen as all the items being crossed off. I paid the modest one-time fee for the upgrade that lets me attach photos of the item to the entry. For things that come in a number of variants it is marvelous. I also categorize by aisle number in my favorite store and description – “condiments” or whatever – so I go through the store from the top of the list to the bottom. Zucchini is in “0 Produce” at the beginning of my trek and is not at the other end of the list from avocados and bananas.
Erm … what year is this? Why make a paper list and then photograph it (or why make a paper list at all), instead of just entering/editing a list on your phone? Notepad or any number of apps are available.
That is so me! I make a list then leave it home. If I remembered my cell phone, I can call my husband and have him read the list to me…but my cell phone is usually right beside the list!
Last night I left my phone home by accident, and it felt very strange at first not to have it, but after a while it felt normal. Early this morning I found out that probably due to an update yesterday, I wasn’t getting any texts. I missed about 15 of them, and they all beeped in at once when I rebooted my phone. I was standing outside about 7a with my dog laughing at my phone. Just a normal day.
Last month, I was out, panicked thinking I left my phone somewhere in my route. As I went to get out of the car, I noticed the blutooth icon on the radio. It had just slid sideways between the passenger seat and the door.
That would be me. I have forgotten my phone a few times. But the worst ever was when I thought I had forgotten my phone when I was in line at Starbucks. Fortunately I still had my gold card and could pay for my drink. Then, when I got home, I realized my phone was in my pocket. This is getting sadder and sadder. :-(
Unless I have a very specific menu that requires multiple things I don’t think I will remember all of, I don’t use a grocery list. I try to depend on my memory for the list. I do pretty well, but when I retired I checked under my sink and found something like 71 boxes of various sizes of ziploc bags. I don’t think I have needed to buy any since. It was a very roomy cupboard, into a corner.
Husband’s cell phone fell out of his pocket at the movies one Saturday night about 5 or 6 years ago. Last show of the night. When we got home he first realized it. He checked online and it was at the movies. Drove back and checked the parking lot – not there. Cleaning crew had finished and left movie theater so could not check. Their telephone number did not have an option to leave a message.
On another weekend this would not have been as bad, but we are 18th century reenactors and had an event the next day with a board meeting for our reenacting unit in the morning during setup – he was “commander” of the unit and I was the “paymaster general” so we had to be there – and the movie theater was not going to open until noon. We went to the event. At 11:30 I left – dressed in 18th century style clothing – and drove to the movie theater to get his phone. I had hoped that someone we knew would be at the desk – but no, it was a stranger – local, not chain theater and relatively small (I had left my cap in the car to seem not completely crazy.) I explained about his phone and having been there the night before, which theater (multi-plex) etc. She let me go in to look for the phone. I could not find it – theater was darkish even though no movie yet and I had repro (prescription) sunglasses on.
Then I remembered!! I called his phone and heard it ring it in the row behind the one we had been in. Then drove back to the 18th century.

Standing in line at Costco, the guy behind me calls his wife to let her know what line he was in. Her purse, in the cart, starts ringing.

Now, I just order my groceries for pickup at my convenience.
Thought about home delivery but then, my steep driveway would need shovelling in the winter.

It’s a Kit-Cat clock; I have a red one on the wall right behind me. It’s years old; works fine. His tail and eyes move.
