What I’m getting from today is that there are too many police present to suit Mr. Jett. Saying they’ve taken every precaution suggests that he doesn’t think they need the police, but the mayor’s way of being sure the exhibits are safe is to have lots of police officers there.
That’s an imposing handshake that Tracy is offering in the first panel!
That is one angular stubby mitt Dick shows in P. 1. Mz Wren looks too smooth. She could be in on the heist ‘cause who would suspect such fineness of being a crook ? Mr. Jett’s Gipper do in P. 2. puts him above any and all suspicion.
Tracy and Sam should check out all those other “Police” to make sure they are recognised as genuine cops from the local force and not imposters just wearing the uniform.
I’ve been to plenty of exhibits at the MET & MOMA over the years, & I’ve never seen one member of the NYPD around. I guess in TracyVille the cops can be rented by private institutions.
introductions are made between all parties concerned and assurances are made by the Mayor and Dick… we shall see soon enough how things will proceed and eventually derail… again, good art and inks by Joe…
“Pleased to meet you. If any more police show up, there’ll be no room for the visitors”. Other that knock your socks off visual displaying this exhibit, I do not imagine other crimes in Tracy land being neglected. Why would Chief Patton put the whole police department on this caper? Oh wait a minute…the media…yeah…they would never live down the coverage.
Nice to see Joe S. back . He had a warm spot in my black little heat, having done the art for the first Yeti tale (plus, I’m still a fan of his E-MAN work — the one comic I actually subscribed to).
Lanky Mr. Jett’s lugubrious remarks about a police presence suggest to me that I at least could have been correct yesterday in identifying the officer we saw there as TPD rather than private security. Jett reminds me of Ichabod Crane in Irving’s “the Legend of Sleepy Hollow” more than any other potential prototype.
The exhibit may indeed open "on time,’ but almost surely something will go or will have gone wrong….

Mr Jett seems decidedly to have been purloined from the “Night of the living dead” set

Jett’s our boy. He doesn’t want the cops there and he has a schedule. Suspicious? We think so.

TRACY" Don’t concern yourself. I’ve set SAM guarding the exhibit.
PASSERBY: Sir? When does the artwork arrive? These blank walls are a bit depressing.
TRACY: What…AGAIN?!?!?!

SAM: I’m hungry. Where’s the Reubens exhibit? I could go for one about now.
MR. JETT: Ahem – that’s a Rubens exhibit you philistine.
SAM: I don’t care how you spell it as long as it’s got sauerkraut on it!

Umm…the mayor’s assurances were predicated upon the police presence that you’re objecting to.

Is Mr. Jett really concerned about the delayed opening or the lost revenue? Hope they are not going to charge an arm and a leg just to see the thing.

You want museum oddities, how about a g orilla?
A gorilla named Bushmaster(I think) was in the Lincoln Park zoo. When he died, they couldn’t bear to part with him so they had him stuffed.
He’s in the Field Natural History Museum.
“Hello,officer,I’d to report a stolen gorilla….”

Mr. JETT seems a bit too preoccupied to skip basic security procedures at the museum. Very odd, indeed! Nice build up to the heist, l think.
