You press the WALK button, a relay closes, and the walk signal lights up when the traffic light turns green. Pushing it again does nothing, yet I see people jabbing away over and over as if it would make the light realized you are in a hurry and change sooner. Ummmmmm….. no.
During WWI, the percentage of US soldiers who fired on the enemy was around 10%. This firing rate rose to between 15 and 20% during WWII, to 50% in Korea and 95% in Vietnam. These soldiers were not running away or hiding; they were standing their ground, following orders, but they just weren’t trying to kill the enemy. Why? They were willing to die for their country but not kill people. Why the rapid increase? At least in part because of new military training which involved ‘desensitization’ – training soldiers not to think of the enemy as human beings but as targets. Is it any wonder that PTSD is (and has been) such a big problem?

At least one of those Hombres is probably driving a Prius, but I have not failed to notice the totally environmentally correct and all-natural horse transportation system. …nice
The best stoplights are the ones in Sidney. When you push the button, it starts ticking slowly “wait . . . wait . . . wait”. When the light changes, the tempo of the ticking changes to “movitmovitmovit”

Given the actual accuracy of gunfights in the old West (as contrasted with how they are depicted in old movies) the horse is in the greatest danger.

This makes me laugh for another reason.

I learned that in the Wild West, the fastest gun was usually the loser. Winners take the time to aim carefully.

Where’s the yellow light for the horses direction? They could time it off of that.

The button really does not work. Ask any city engineer. Same thing with the close button on an elevator.
