Well, I pointed out yesterday Nicole is interested in scientific research and could be there working on some sort of project. I assume medical, although I don’t immediately see any benefits to what she’s describing. But, if there were a living yolk inside this supershell it would be unable to hatch due to the supershell… Unless the inflation of the lining explodes the shell open, which would kill the chick trying to hatch. But, not to worry, throwing the egg against the all will kill any life in the yolk. Schrödinger’s egg.
OK – it took nearly six months, and probably some loss of income, but at long last I am caught up with all GoComics JumpStarts (as well as almost all comments) from 1996 to now! It is going to be weird to only be able to read one strip at a time now… and weird to have more than one person able to reply to my comments, paltry (poultry?) though they may be.
For those reading along, single phase Wurtzite boron nitride may be stronger than diamond. So, no, Robb Armstrong didn’t make it up. Makes me wonder how he knows about it. Maybe he’s another unemployed chemist.

You will clean up the mess if the experiment doesn’t work, right, Nicole?

Write a story about an egg that won’t break, and you might get a pullet surprise!

A “living” yolk – like a fertilized egg? Does she mean a live chick?

I’m pretty fascinated by aerogel. It’s worth learning about if you like applied science.

Since it has a “shell” it probably has only a “yolk.” The egg concept is a demonstration of some protective thing Nicole has invented.

Is there room enough, inside an unbreakable shell, for a yolk and an inflatable liner?

I may be overthinking this, But is Nicole pregnant!!!?

Based on the Schrödinger comments above, there is both a live chick and an uncooked omelet.
