I have to admit that Frog Applause is rather derivative. It’s suspiciously similar to the classic strips Toad Ovation and Amphibian Clapping.

The wit and wisdom of FA is lost on some. Poor benighted wretches!

Teresa, you have got to stop your mother from writing! Frog Applause has achieved its 16-year record of lameness in spite of her attempts to stifle you ( like she did when you were thirteen ). No matter what she says, we hope that you’ll perservere pushing the purile and pedantic to great heights (or lows) for another 16 years.

There was a supervisor at work that correctly observed that it doesn’t matter whether you get good press or bad press. (as long as you are getting noticed)

I visit the Frog every morning for my daily dose of Dada. It aligns my Chakras.

It is too much like real life. It doesn’t have the surreal quality of “The Family Circus” or the nightmare atmosphere of “Ziggy.”

The reason FA strip has lasted so long is because it’s really quirky, funny, thought provoking, and has silly, scribblings and characters of yore!
