Reminds me of how I watch Jimmy Kimmel every night. Most nights, as they announce the guests for the show, I end up asking “who?” after most of the names.
Small wonder I don’t make it past the monologue very often.
It’s kind of disturbing when all the “real” movie stars you admired in your youth are decades dead, and current “stars” are sometimes decades younger than you.
I don’t watch the show, but looking at the list of celebs from just this season, there’s got to be a few names there familiar to Pluggers: William Shatner, Eric Idle, Gloria Gaynor, Jerry Springer, George Foreman, George Clinton, Ray Parker Jr, and all three of the actors who played the boys on the Brady Bunch. I recognize some other names too, but there’s a number of (mostly younger) names I don’t recognize. The producers are clearly going for a broad audience and thus bring in celebs who might be familiar to different demographics. I’m sure there’s celebs the Pluggers recognize which the Zoomers have never heard of.

The plugger should at least know who the masked Phantom of the Opera is—-been around for over 35 years.

My wife and I enjoy that show for the music only, but half the time when someone gets unmasked we have to Google the name or ask our daughter…

Same here.
But nobody younger than 80 knows who Dorothy Arnold is either.

And if by chance you do (like Terry Bradshaw), you say to yourself, “I didn’t know he could sing”.

More than likely true for most viewers…. ;-)

For that matter, I hardly ever know the “celebrities” on celebrity versions of game shows!

They’ve had a few from our generation, but yeah, most of them I’ve never heard of.

Very true! Same problem with “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.” Celebrities to whom? I don’t know a one!

I enjoyed watching some of that, they even had some old-timers I knew, but I mostly got a kick out of the crazy costumes.
