I see, Uncle Ted is one of those people who always have the TV blaring. I once attending a social gathering and they had the TV blaring, loudly. I asked the host if he could please turn it off. He was shocked.
I recall as a kid, I was the remote for my parents. Had to either adjust the outside antenna or the rabbit ears depending on where we lived. There were no 24 hour channels of any sort back then.
I like the tv on too even if not watching it. And as Brutus will learn, when you get to Uncle Ted’s age and continuous sleep through the night is a distant memory, it’s a good companion.
Uncle Ted can just pull the plug when he wants to go to bed, then plug it back in when he’s ready in the morning. Maybe for this visit Brutus should offer for them to take a walk for a while.

In the middle of the night they show lullaby games. It helps Uncle Ted get his beauty sleep.

My mother was in total awe when I showed her that the TV has a control panel on the side.

It’s best off because it is thousands of sales pitches given between thousands of garbage programs. I’d lose cable in a minute but the wife…you know.

Why? I haven’t the remotest idea why!

Nap during commercials. Every 4 minutes for 5 minute naps.

Most TV networks have turned into 24 hour, non-stop, commercial networks.

Good ole Uncle Ted Thornapple, teaching his nephew that the easiest way to turn off the tv is to just fall asleep while watching it.

Remote controls can be a real “turn off” for some people…and a “turn on” for others.

I could substitute my father-in-law—may he RIP—for Uncle Ted. He would have been just as happy with all sports, all the time.
cuzinron47 almost 2 years ago
Because not all the sports are on the same channel.

Sports – the only thing on TV that is even remotely real.

well at least it’s his favorite channel… sometimes it’s just nice to just hear something. ;)
