… You may hang up once your call is no longer important to you.

I’ve heard if you say bad words to the answering machine, it connects you faster, but I’ve never tried it.

I made my answering machine greeting: “Thank you for calling. Your call is very important to us. (pause) No one can take your call at this moment. Please hold (pause) and at the tone, leave your message.”

Surprisingly we rarely get messages from scammers. Normal calls seem to work just fine.

Your call is important because they’re taking bets on how long you’ll wait.

It’s not important enough for you to pay the people answering the calls well so that you can hire enough of them.

Was on hold for 45 min w/SSA yesterday but when I finally got through to a person, she was incredibly helpful. Good things come for those willing to wait! (Sometimes…lol)

Our last experience was on doc hold line. 30 min, no response. Wife fell, had to call emt’s. Hold on another doc line was over 30 min. Biggest rip-off anywhere. If they’re that tied up with call traffic, they need to add service.

I understand it no longer works very often, or at all, but it used to be that, if you pressed “0” when they prompted you for a number, which was never 0, you’d get an actual person on the line…
