Yowza – the Specials! Ska! Think you could also call it “alt reggae.” The Specials, the English Beat… I saw the latter once in Chapel Hill, NC. At some point, a few guys from the English Beat formed a band called the Fine Young Cannibals, good, good, good. When it comes to pop/rock, it’s hard to beat the alt stuff that appeared in the 70s and into the 80s. Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, New Order, the Jam, the Pretenders, Tracey Thorn……………………

Loved their music. I was introduced to their music by the Grosse Pointe Blank movie and soundtrack and really appreciated it. As a side note, Joe Strummer of the Clash put the soundtrack together so I knew I was in good company.
