“You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead—your next stop, the Twilight Zone.”
1970 VW … family of 4 & 1 cat … passing by the Bonneville Salt Flats on I-80 … 70 mph … dead of night … kids and wife asleep … all I hear is the hypnotic hum of wind, engine, & tires on the road … cat squalls … I wake up as the humming changes to rumbling … in time enough to take corrective action …
My grandfather lost a big toe in a tractor accident. You might not think one toe is a big deal, but you would be surprised at how much the big toe is responsible for. He struggled with this his whole life, but he never let it keep him down. He built his own business and was a self made millionaire. Had I the means, I would have loved to have made a golden toe for him. He was a dear man. The man with the golden toe sounds like a James Bond spin-off, but I could never imagine my grandfather as a villain.
392 miles from nowhere, in a rickety old pickup? Silence is not golden, I suggest. Play your radio (or other audio device) loudly to help you stay alert and keep from drifting off to sleep and off the road….

If silence is golden, then giving myself a golden shower is a good thing, right?
