Old Veeblefester sure is a bright ray of sunshine !

Don’t worry Brutus, by the time you get back to work Elmer will have had all he could stand of Veeblefester and will have quit.

He’s good enough to get up out of bed to talk on the phone. Why bother getting out of bed calling the boss on the phone, couldn’t he just send an e-mail like he did yesterday/tomorrow?

“Thornapple quit!”

“Who filled his vacancy?”

“He didn’t leave one.”

Reminds me of the old “Bob from Account Temps can handle it” commercials…

Our poor intrepid hero, as Rodney Dangerfield was wont to observe, “don’t get no respect…”

I suppose a “Welcome back” party will be out of the question.

Well ,Veberfister, it seems that Elmer from the cleaning crew is in reality a Chinese industrial spy and all of your company’s tea cosey secrets have just been stolen!

Only Brutus Thornapple could be replaced by a janitor who knows nothing about his job, and yet manage to do Brutus’ job better than Brutus himself.

Brutus is looking very hip with the two-day stubble.

Uh oh. Is Brutus’ job at jeopardy? Will the Elmer get to move up in jobs? Of course, not unless he doesn’t mind the whipping sessions that come with the job. Boss man is just saying this as a put down like he regularly gives when Brutus is there. So, Brutus job might still be secure, unless Elmer is very, very good.

Can you really afford to be absent at work, Brutus, so they realize how dispensable you are? Oh I forgot, you are invaluable as a whipping boy to the boss, and no one whats that job.

Ahhhh. Nothing like janitorial expertise to save the company.

As cuzinron47 said, the whipping boy position will never be filled by anyone else.

Well that was nice of Veeblefester, I am sure that was a load off Brutus’ mind to hear that.
