Calvin has to program himself to have more interesting dreams.

Schools wish they had that power.

He must have spent a lot of time asleep counting to 400 trillion, so I guess it worked.

Took awhile, though.

Try counting the rocks in Moe’s head.

I used to count myself to sleep by multiplying by 2 – I got to 33,554,432 and was strangely satisfied.

I’ve woken up in the middle of the night before because my dream was a repeat and I didn’t want to see it again.

It must have been a long dream.

Sheep would probably work better, Calvin.

Actually, Cal would have been bored a couple of minutes in. His attention span is a blink.

Now THAT’S hell. Not fire and and torture, just living the most boring possible thing for eternity.

Carl Sagan also did that once as a kid, but only got to “billions and billions”.

Cheer up, Calvin. Think of Mrs Wormwood’s math class and you’ll be back to sleep in no time.

Ive had dreams like that and Im so glad to wake up

Now imagine Calvin counting all the grains of sand or stars in the night sky.

The fact that there’s more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all of the beaches in the whole world IS something to think about…

I’d never seen this one until today. Thought I’d seen them all; I’ve got all the books! Tickled sh…pink by the find.

Just a quick poll: has anybody here had a pleasant dream? I’ve had a couple of comedies but that is as good as it gets.

Okay, that’s a new thought for me. I wonder if I really have, ever, got to a point in a dream where I fell asleep and woke my real self up?

Hmmm…moral of the story: Don’t try counting all the rocks in a rock quarry.

Douglas Adams in his “Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency” novel had Thor count all the rocks in Wales as a punishment. He lost count, of course. Several times.

In Douglas Adams’ “The Long, Dark Tea-Time of the Soul”, Thor is cursed to count all the stones in Wales.

“You want to know how many there were?” he would ask you.

“Count them youself!”

Can’t have been that bad if he got up to 400 trillion. Me, I dreamed that I was trying to get out of bed, but couldn’t. Make what you will of that.

A similar thing happened to me this morning…in my dream, for whatever reason, I was fumbling with FOUR sets of car keys, before the realization that I cannot simultaneously drive four cars at once jolted me awake…

Yup, it’s been that kind of week…

Ever try to get back to a dream after waking up, but just can’t? That was me last night.
