Nowadays it would be wireless and almost unnoticeable. It’s getting harder to tell the cell phone users from the people talking to the voices inside their heads.

Yep. Wudda done the same thing!

Headsets are great, provided you use them right. I had one made by Jabra, back in the early 2000s. Worked fine until I got new phones with the 3.5mm jack and mine had a 2.5mm plug; it also was wired differently on the tip-ring-sleeve than other standards.

When they provided headsets at work, I was ecstatic. No more sore neck from trying to use the phone while typing. I could even knit during conference calls… until my supervisor made me stop because she thought it looked unprofessional.

These days, the earpiece serves as a microphone and is attached by Bluetooth™. I keep thinking of Lieutenant Uhura when I use it.

I remember those! I’m afraid I really did share Peter’s enthusiasm.

But Peter, don’t you want to attract girls? …Well, OK, not if Paige is among them.

I mean I get why Peter wouldn’t want to look like a member of ‘N Sync, but I’d think he would want girls thinking he looks like a member of ’N Sync.
